Growing Company Plans to Move to New Offices by the end of 2005
High Point-based company iSurity, Inc., has purchased the Tatum Toomey Whicker building located at 1820 Eastchester Drive. iSurity will move all of its operations to the building and has plans to expand staff and services.
iSurity, which employees 25 people in the Triad, provides workers’ compensation insurance to approximately 2,800 small businesses in North Carolina through 210 independent insurance agencies. In addition, iSurity recently launched iSurity Special Risk (ISR) which offers insurance products nationally. ISR provides insurance for companies that have difficulty finding coverage because of the types services that they provide.
“We’re excited to have larger space to accommodate our growth. We’re growing because of our excellent staff and the loyalty of our customers,” said John Baker, CEO of iSurity. “We’ve been in business for a decade, and we still provide service to our very first customer.”
According to Baker, the 21,000 sf building is needed to expand operations necessitated by the addition of ISR and the continued success of their core insurance business. “Having this building will allow us to immediately expand our staff and support our forecasted growth,” said Baker. “The extra space will also allow us to train staff without having to go offsite.”
Baker said that training space was a key factor in the purchase decision because iSurity focuses a large part of its customer service efforts on continuous training.
Although iSurity will not move until the end of this year, they have already begun hiring additional staff to manage the additional service. “We are fortunate in that we can support our community by hiring people from the area. Because we focus so much of our efforts on training, we are able to train new employees that might not have as much experience,” said Baker.
iSurity was named one of the Triad’s Fast 50 in 1999, 2000 and 2003 by the Triad Business Journal – a tribute that Baker attributes to the iSurity staff and the products that the company offers.
In addition to the former TTW building, iSurity has also purchased the adjacent lot that currently has a vacant house on, it for a total of 6.5 acres. According to Baker the hope is to give the house to someone willing to pay the expense to move it and to use the space as an upper additional parking area.
iSurity and ISR are companies that primarily work with independent insurance agencies and insurance carriers to provide workers’ compensation and special high-risk coverages. Located in High Point, iSurity was founded in 1994 and currently serves more than 2800 companies throughout North Carolina.
